Miles & Miles of Yard Sales in 2008

Miles and miles of yard sales are becoming so popular that almost every state in the U.S. is trying to start one. It has been a long known fact that junk makes money, we all do it, put out our unwanted junk on the lawn and have big sales. As the saying goes, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure and the saying is absolutely true! Cities across America have citywide sales and it brings many people into the community, if you spread it across the state lots of community’s benefit.
***
Last year during the US 40 Historic Yard Sale there were reports of restaurants running out of food, many cities reported motels being filled and business profiting from the guests participating in the yard sale. It just makes everybody happy, locals make money selling their junk and treasures, businesses benefit and buyers love to look for bargains. It’s a win-win situation.

Many towns will have a festival during these yard sale days, you will find just about everything along the route. Antiques, collectibles, furniture, glassware, fresh garden produce, canned jams and jellies, food vendors, livestock and vehicles are just a small part of what ’s selling in some of these communities. Many of the communities will also have live entertainment and festivals along with the yard sales.

I buy and resell so I love yard sales, I make more money off yard sale items than any other source available to me. Before gas got so outrageously expensive I would go to the nearest big city and drive aimlessly around looking for yard sale signs. I still yard sale but I tend to keep closer to home, which only offers a few a week. Miles of yard sales in a line is a very cost-effective way to yard sale, besides it’s just plain old fun!

I am trying to list the 2008 “longest yard sales” by the month, if you know of one I have missed please email me and I will add it to the list. If you get to any of these be careful of the traffic it can get quite intense and keep a careful eye out for pedestrians - they are everywhere. Most of all have a great time and let me know of your great finds - Happy Bargaining.
